Hello everyone,
Last week was noise, the good kind. Lisbon AI Week spilled across the city, turning streets, cafés, coworks and auditoriums into a living lab of ideas, code and curiosity. Startup Portugal celebrated ten years of building community and giving a stage to those who choose to create. And in Porto, another Startup Weekend came to life with 351 Startup Association and that unmistakable energy of people building simply because they can.
It was a week full of movement, events, stages, gatherings, conversations. A week where the ecosystem felt alive, but when the dust settles, one question stays: what happens on Monday morning when the founder sits down and needs a customer?
Because the truth is simple: Portugal is extraordinary at bringing people together but less extraordinary at helping them sell.
Portugal is world‑class at creating community and now it needs to become world‑class at creating market; because the next decade won’t be shaped by how many events we host, how many programs we launch, or how many stages we build. It will be shaped by how many startups manage to sell here, first, and then everywhere else.
So this week, one question worth your attention: What would happen if every event, every program, every initiative ended not with a pitch, but with a customer?
Imagine the shift, the impact. Imagine Monday morning looking different.
The founder doesn’t need another event. The founder needs a market that moves. And if we get this right, the next ten years won’t be about creating startups; they’ll be about creating companies.
See you at the next event.
